Meet the Family Behind the Mysteries

The Harrises live on Long Island, New York, but they’re always up for an adventure that takes them beyond their own backyard. The family includes Mom and Dad, their three homeschooled kids - Nora, Oliver, and Rosie.

For the Harris kids, learning happens everywhere! They love museums, libraries, historic sites, family trips, and anywhere else their curiosity leads them. Each of the kids brings something different to their adventures. Nora wants to know how things work, Oliver wants to know what happened before, and Rosie notices the people, animals, and little details everyone else might miss.

Their different perspectives tend to uncover some pretty interesting stories. And when something doesn’t quite add up... well, the Harris kids can’t resist a good mystery.

Meet Nora

The oldest Harris Kid

Nora loves figuring out how things work. Machines, structures, maps, diagrams, and anything she can examine piece by piece are right up her alley. Her dyslexic brain is especially good at thinking visually and imagining things in three dimensions, which makes technical drawing and mechanical puzzles a natural fit. She often makes sense of something by sketching it out or picturing how its different parts fit together.

That way of thinking comes in handy during the Harris family’s investigations. When everyone else sees a strange object, shape, or set of markings, Nora is often wondering how it was made, what it was designed to do, or whether there’s another way to look at it.

Oliver loves history. Not just famous people and important dates, but the clues people leave behind. Old photographs, maps, records, codes, buildings, artifacts, and stories from long ago can send him down a research rabbit hole in no time. He keeps a notebook handy for recording names, facts, questions, theories, and anything else that might become important later.

When the Harris kids stumble onto a mystery, Oliver is usually the one asking, “What happened here before?” He knows that sometimes the best way to understand what you’re looking at today is to find out what was happening in the very same place years - or even centuries - ago.

Meet Rosie

The Youngest Harris Kid

Rosie pays attention to things that are easy to overlook. She’s fascinated by animals and the natural world, but she’s just as interested in people. She wants to learn about their stories, their feelings, and the reasons they make the choices they do. She has a habit of asking simple questions that sometimes turn out to have surprisingly complicated answers.

Being the youngest doesn’t make Rosie the sidekick in an investigation. Her observations often send the older kids looking in a direction they hadn’t considered, and her questions remind them that solving a mystery isn’t only about figuring out what happened. Sometimes understanding who, why, or what was affected matters just as much.

Meet Mom & Dad

The Parents Behind the Adventures

Mom and Dad have built a family where questions are welcomed, interests are encouraged, and learning can happen anywhere. Mom grew up in Chile before attending art school in the United States. The kids have grown up with her language and traditions woven naturally into their lives at home.

Dad is a journalist whose work sometimes takes him to interesting places and, whenever they can, the family comes along. Together, Mom and Dad encourage the kids to explore, ask questions, and follow their interests, while knowing when to step back and let them make discoveries of their own.
